Essay # 4 High Fidelity ( Rob )

Salomon Sanchez

November 13, 2009

Composition # 4 Draft # 2

ROB
How big are the effects when you break up with someone else? Of course we have had dumpers through our life. Which are not a good experience unless you try to finished it in good terms right!; otherwise she is going to hate you forever for breaking up with her and for some reason you will doomed to be a loser toward the person affected. Rob is a guy who tells us about his top five dumpers and humiliations in High Fidelity. How his life became bored and miserable with each of his break ups. Rob shows in all these experiences that feels like a loser because women always left him for another guy.
Alison Ashworth was the first split up in Rob's life. Alison cheated on Rob because she didn't take the relationship so seriously. Rob and Alison wanted to try new experiences like the first kiss boyfriends and girlfriend everywhere, and it was the moment where they both thought about how he would feel to kiss like people in that way with mouths and tongues and all that. But was because maybe he wanted to try other things too like sex Friday nights at the cinema, company and conversation. So on page 7 Rob said "at the fourth night of their relationship, I turned up in the park and Alison was sitting on the bench with her arm around Kevin Bannister.” Obviously, they were kissing each other and cheating on Rob. He felt so bad and disappointed. When he saw that he did not know what to do and his face got red, suddenly forgot how to walk without being aware or every single part of his body. What to do and where to go, also on page 7 he said "I didn't want to fight; I didn't want to sit there with the two of them and I didn't want to go home either.” Actually, I think that is what I would have done if I were him. This experience left a trail on him. On page 9 she said "But there still seems to be an element of that evening in everything that has happened to me since; all my other romantic stories seem to be a scrambled version of that first one." This tells us an important moment In Rob's life as a big trail in his life.
Penny Hardwick the" NICE" girl and Rob’s second split up. Penny did not let him to touch her or do anything with her, so he decided to leave her. By the time he was growing up, his thoughts change to something little bit mature. He was looking for something more than hands contact; he was looking for "sex". On page 11 he implied how he got some of those ideas from other guys, he said "Are you getting any?; Does she let you have any?; how much does she let you have?; and so on. " This tells us that the most important objective to Rob was to get everything he could sexually. So when he realized he will not “get any”, he gave up. Days after that Rob knew that Penny went out with other guy called Chris Thomson , a boy who had had more girlfriends than all the rest of us put together. One day maybe three weeks after his last cling with Penny, Thompson came clamorous into the room. Rob also know it wasn't nothing to feel proud of because of the bad news, in page 14 Thompson said "Oi, Fleming, you spastic. Guess who I knobbed last night?." Rob felt stupid, and small, and much, much younger than this unpleasant, big-mouthed silly. Everyone knew that Thompson got whatever he wanted from whomever he saw and this time was Penny. I think that Rob did not felt humiliated because she left him for another guy. I think it was because someone else got her faster than him. Right after Penny left him he try to take revenge. On page 13 he said" I went out with a girl called Kim, who I knew for a fact had already been invaded, and who (I was correct in assuming) wouldn't object to being invaded again.” We can inferred that this girl called Kim have had sexual relations with other guys and she will permit Rob have sex with her easily. Finally his thoughts about this relationship was a little bit confused. On page 14 he explained it with these words. "I still couldn't understand what had happened. How had this transformation in Penny been effected? How had Penny gone from being a girl who wouldn’t do anything to a girl who would do everything there was to do? Maybe it was best not to think about it too hard' I didn't want to feel sorry for anybody else except me." Rob felt bad because he did not got any and Penny finally had sex with another guy because maybe she though the new guy will going to leave her if she doesn’t have sex with him.
Jackie Allen was the third break up and also a secret relationship. Jackie was his friend, Phil's, girlfriend. Strong reason to keep it in secret right! on page 16 Rob tells us a bit about Jackie's relationship. "We met in secret and phoned each other in secret and had sex in secret and said things like , what are we going to do?, in secret and talked about how nice it would be when we didn't have to do things in secret anymore. I never really thought about whether that was true or not." So one that Rob saw Phill and Jackie huddled together in a corner, Phill was pale and near to tears. At the next day Rob and Jackie didn't have to do things in secret anymore; and they lasted about three weeks making the third split up in Rob's life. He felt uncomfortable but at the same time free. After Jackie break up Phill to be with Rob he was thinking how to tell her get away from him because he didn't feel anything for her anymore. Later on when nobody likes each other, Jackie went back to Phill and things didn't go back to the way they had been. Finally in page 19 he finished the experience down saying "In a few short weeks, mock-marital status had ceased to be something to aspire to, and had become a cause for scorn. At seventeen, we were becoming as embittered and unromantic" because they bored from each other.
Maybe you are wondering how Rob's life improve with all these memories, well, me too. Rob seems to be a bit insecure but I don't think he is the sort of guy who doesn't know anything either. Definitely I think that Rob's life is interesting because is full of experiences that should happen me and I feel identity with some parts of his story. I learned from Rob that we have to make decisions whenever we think is right and never being insecure. That is what I think Nick Hornby wanted to learn from ourselves. Have sex is important but not the most when you hurt someone else because sex is just an issue.

Composition # 3, Draft # 2
HOMELESS SHELTER
As we already know, the decision to build a homeless shelter or a shopping mall is not easy because both will benefit the community, the homeless shelter would improve their homeless life making it not so hard providing them, a safe home, clothes and benefits that they are not able to get in the street and build a shopping mall would provide comfort to the community giving the chance to do not travel for a long time trying to find another shopping mall close to their house. Building a homeless shelter is beneficial for New York City because it will provide jobs, improve Community education, and provide health care to the homeless.
Building a homeless shelter will increase jobs. First of all a homeless shelter can provide opportunity to work for construction workers. In order to build a shelter we will need many different workers. We need carpenters, engineers, plumbers, electricians, painters. Currently unemployment rate is very high. Hiring people to build the shelter is going to lower it. Secondly, some homeless need help from social workers. Social workers will have a chance to find employment working in school. Finally, building a homeless shelter will help to give a chance for doctors and nurses to work. Homeless people need medical attention, so doctors and nurses could offer their services. A homeless shelter is another place that doctors and nurses can get jobs. A homeless shelter provides many different jobs.
A homeless shelter would be a good option for the city to improve Community Education. Writing and reading skills can provide goodwill for homeless children. Writing and reading skills for homeless children is expected to be an important opportunity to make them success in school by giving them free education. After the graduation of school homeless going to find a job working as any mayor they chose to stop being homeless. Secondly, sex education can help homeless especially young people t having protection though their sexual life. The most common mistake that teenagers make is having sex without protection because they didn’t had enough sexual education. This will prevent diseases such as A. I.D.S. Finally financial education will teach homeless how to management their money. Once they get out from the homeless shelter, they will be prepared to make financial decisions by taking accounting classes in the shelter and managing their own bills correctly like paying rent.
Building a homeless shelter will lower the crime rate. First of all homeless should lower the drugs used. we all know that many people who used drugs are homeless, and what the shelter will make is provide them something else to work on with and try to keep them busy for example working as cleaners in the shelter preventing the possibility to used drugs. Secondly the homeless shelter will lower murder. Being homeless has high probabilities to be killed by someone because they don’t have any place to sleep in or they are discriminated against because they do not even take a shower. Building the shelter can offer safe places to live and decrease the murder rate. A homeless shelter will decrease robberies. We can see in the street that many of the criminal people are homeless teenagers who kill and rob because they think in the wrong way causes high percent of robberies, the homeless shelter is expected to help that people to grow with right ideas in their minds such as, study and work hard about what they want in life like make their goals success. The crime rate has been considered during long time caused by homeless people and is time to finished building a shelter.

The perfect paragraph

I love my English class.
My English class is an important encouragement in my life. First of all it helps me in my speech. Sometimes when I speak I cannot see my mistakes by myself unless someone correct me and honestly I feel really good even better when that person is my teacher. Secondly, My English class will help me in the labor life. One of the most requirements to find a good job is speak English and get involved on it, as we already know English is not my first language but I try to make it like that, simple, spontaneous and appropriate and I’m sure I will do it in the conceivable future. Finally it will help me to get in to the college. My principal goal right now is to get a high reading, writing and speaking skills. It has been difficult since my first English class and is not easy but I think all my afford will be an accomplishment when I finish my to study in C.L.I.P. In conclusion I considered my English class an important equipment for my future because it gives me the necessary tools to continue ahead.

Essay # 2 Biography.

SALOMON SANCHEZ

Biography
My name is Salomon Sanchez. I was born in Mexico City in 1989. My family and I decided to move from there when I was two years old because the rent was so high, so we moved to my mom’s house in Puebla, a state located two hours away where we were not obligated to pay rent. My family has always been divided in two because they don’t get along. My dad’s family all live in Mexico City and think they are in the high class with the best way of life and customs even when they don’t have enough money to support their lifestyles with luxuries. My mom’s family all live in Puebla Mexico, and have simple behavior , simple manners  but they have the necessary resources to buy and do whatever they want. When I turned six we moved to Mexico City again which is the economic, industrial and cultural center city of country with huge population, making it the second largest metropolitan area in the Americas and the third largest in the world. The city was originally built as Tenochtitlan by Aztecs in 1325 on an island of lake Texcoco better called “ The city of palaces."
My family is really big. From my dad side I have 6 members including my only grandma. And from my mom’s side I have 53 members. But in my family there are just seven of us, my mom, dad, two sons Rodolfo and I, and three girls, Anahi, Alejandra and Brenda. I get along very well with every person in my family but this is not like a magic story. In which you can see the perfect family. From the time I was two until when i turned six; I just have memories about my parents fighting discussing my dad’s vices or why he didn’t spend time at home with us instead of going out with his friends. Or about money or why another people looked at my dad with another woman. When I was child I didn’t  see the importance of that kind of problems but when I grow up that really pissed me off. Tired of all that my parents decided come to New York in 1995 for a better life and they left my three sisters and me in charge of my grandmother in the Mexico City where I first met my dad’s sister Claudia the person who later turned into my nightmare for the next 9 years. I think she is about her forties right now, materialistic, ambitious, selfish. In one word: witch. When she needed money she called to my parents to say that we wanted to go to the movie theater or any excuse that came to her mind and of course she got it. “Don’t do this, don’t do that” I heard these words a millions of times. If any of us did something wrong we get a punishment. If I said a bad word, I got a punished and a very laud screaming and guess what? That never happened with her sons Eytan and Itzel ; no punishment no nothing. I still remember when my cousin Eytan and I sneaked out of the house to play foot ball. We were playing when suddenly he felt down, dislocating his right arm. Trying to help, I went in to the house to tell his mom about what had happened and she ran out, but I stay in. So when she came I looked at her really angrily walking toward me. She took my arm and slapped me really hard even when I explained her it was not my fault . After that she locked me at the bathroom for three hours she said that she wouldn't let me get out until I apologized for what had been happened. I cried until I fell asleep and she took me out of the bathroom. Every time  she struck me I had one of my siblings  consoling me. Most of the time it was Alejandra. She is really sweet, good sense of humor, and one year younger than me, but the must remarkable moments were that she always had a hug for me when a wrong situation happened me. And that finally came to an end when I moved to my mom's house when I was 15 in 2004 because my mom came back from New York 9 years after she left us.
My mom’s house is located right in the corner of a block, two floors, angled ceiling. The floor is flat and shiny with brown color and wood shape, white walls inside of the house, 1 green bathroom and 3 bedrooms upstairs, 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms 1 living room downstairs backyard with our kitchen room in one of the corners. In front of it we have the garage and my mom's car into it, in the other corner we have a big dog's house because we have 2 dogs one of them is Labrador and the other is golden retriever to protect us at night, my room was upstairs , glass and short table in the middle, closet, flat big television near to the one of the walls, my bed, white curtains in the two windows and the rest of space in the walls I had at least 7 diplomas because I was one of the best students since high school. Outside the house looks big house but with a brick wall looking with two trees out of the door garage. In the lateral second house's exit, it is a small neighborhood constituted most of the people for our family even my two neighbors were my uncles. One of those has five sons and the other uncle, who just died 15 days ago, has two. Fun situations happened there like when some of my cousins wanted to see me they used to jump the wall like monkeys instead of going out of their respective houses and knocking on the door, waiting for someone to open it. Every mom's birthday when all the members of my family went to my house to spend time together, eat cake and talk about funny events.
I remember my mom and think about how she got a lot of money by herself and my dad got nothing? well, she worked hard while she was here in New York also in Mexico, all the time busy and trying to be the perfect mom, working for us. That is the reason why I considered her the most important person in my life. Since I left my house two years ago, I just call her expecting she is OK in all aspects. She has changed my life a lot making me feel mentally strong, always taking the right way like working hard, studying, saving money, and never giving up to become a good for nothing. I lived with my mom just three years from 2005 to 2008 because I decided to come to New York. Some minutes before I took the airplane my sisters were crying because they didn't want me to leave. When I hugged my mom she told me, " I will not cry for you because I trust that you have a big future expecting you and I also trust you will find it anywhere you go. " then I took the airplane. My first day sleeping in my dad's apartment in Brooklyn, I felt weird. I did not know anybody. I had to go out with my dad  every time I wanted to get some food from the store and for the next one year he had to care for me until I moved to my brother's apartment. I live with my brother one of my cousins and one unknown guy. Now study during the morning at LGCC Monday to Friday and I have a part time job working Thursday to Sunday in a restaurant which isn't bad, but I don't like I still thinking about finding a job like my brother as bartender. I know that is going to take me some time but I’ll be patient.
I think is really difficult to decide what you are going to be in your future, but I have some choices. First begin the college next February. I would like to study criminal justice but I know I need to save money to afford it. So I’m thinking about getting another part time job or getting one better than I have right now. Second, working full time to save as much money as I can to  save for business and after some years get out of here as long as I have done my goals with success. And the last choice is move to Alabama or Miami next June with some of my friends who already live there, get a job  and continue studying college. One thing is sure: I don't know where I’m going to be in the next 6 months and I don't even know where I’m going to be in the next 10 minutes, but I do know I will try to do my best every second to get what I want.

Essay # 1 Who is the most influential person in my life

 SALOMON SANCHEZ
      October 1, 2009
Composition # 1- Who is the most influential person in your life?
My mom is one of the most rational and thoughtful person about coming to NYC I’ve ever met. First she understood my decision to come to New York. I think she didn’t want me to leave  because of my inexperience about what a job is and because for every mom is so difficult let their sons goes away, but she trusted me , she talked with my older brother who offer to help to find a job even though she knew I didn’t have any experience working. Secondly she advised me about situations in which I had to be cautions. My mom lived in New York for ten years before I came here.  So she advice me that one of the things she did not like in New York was the space to leave. To change her big house for an apartment room, and that happened me exactly the same, the first night I realized that the room was too small and I pissed off for the next few weeds every time I heard my neighbor making noise and screaming, but remembering my mom’s advice I learned how to deal with if little by little. Finally she encourages me to study in New York City. Not economically, by talking when I call her and she tells me that she feels proud of me makes me happy because that’s in one of the reasons I’m working for.
